The world grew one story at a time...Once upon a time a long, long time ago, history was passed down from generation to generation through stories.
This is how it has always been and this is how it will contiue to be.
My favorite book as always been The Sleep Book by Dr. Seuss. I have always loved to read it at night, obviously, but my favorite is the silly rhymes and the pictures. I love looking for all the sleepers in the nooks and crannies. You have to pick it up and read it.
I have to say that my favorite book stems from high school. I read it about every five years or so just to recall information. I like it for its historical context and I can use it when studying the Civil War. My favorite novel is Uncle Tom's Cabin. :)
My favorite book changes pretty often. One of my new favorite books is Inside Out & Back Again by Thanhha Lai. It is a ten-year-old girl's story in poems of what it was like to escape from the war in Vietnam and be a refugee in Alabama. My favorite line is "No one would believe me/but at times/I would choose/wartime in Saigon/over/peacetime in Alabama." It is very hard to have to leave everything you know and love and be the new kid who doesn't know the language or the customs and have everyone make fun of you.
